Opus Gluei Challenge #9 Getaway
Think I just made the deadline with this one.... the challenge was to make something that represented escaping from the routine. Since its always a choice between reading and anything else for me (except housework, that's NEVER a choice), I planned to make a cover for my book so I could pretend I was still reading the same one when in fact I was onto Book 2 (or 3, or 4). Its hard to justify "Just let me finish this Chapter..." when its really the second book for the weekend. But it was all too tricky, so I compromised with a set of bookmarks instead. There's one for Luxury Travel, complete with bling, one to take on that First Class Cruise in my next life, one that represents a postmark, and the fourth is a martini glass.....escape of quite a different kind!!
Everything was from scraps in the busy room, including the luggage labels which I have had for years (its hard to use up a box of 1000). The next time I break the routine, maybe I should tidy the table!! In case you're interested, the books in the picture are "The Master Butchers Singing Club" by Louise Erdrich, "i before e" by Judy Parkinson, "The Brain That Changes Itself" by Norman Doidge MD, and "Maigret Travels South" by Georges Simenon, all on my to-read pile.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun creating your themed tags - I think I'll take the martini glass one - LOL

Carolann, that is soooo funny! I likewise have a box of a 1000 of those labels sitting around collecting dust. You've inspired me to dig those out. Maybe I should send a bunch to all my friends! Great idea to use them for bookmarks. And I like your themes immensely... I also love to travel, read and have the occasional martini!

Now you’re talking... Martini's!! Woo, hoo... :) Such a fun idea to make bookmarkers for what every mood or reading material you are inspired by!! Fantastic ribbons and colors... SO SWEET and CUTE!! You inspire me girl.. TFS Carolann!! :)
ReplyDeleteThese are so cool. I love reading and although I have many, many bookmarks, I can NEVER find one, so I usually end up using a receipt or a business card. LOL. Wonderful project for Opus Gluei. So very glad you are joining us on our journey. I am going to check out those books too. I LOVE to read. I think I may have to follow your lead and make a bookcover to mask my addiction as well.
